I’m almost not awake. I slept maybe 4 hours last night and was back up and out into the Washington DC traffic with hardly a pause. I think I sort of remember getting here to work and would like nothing better than to lay my head down on my desk but that doesn’t tend to inspire particularly good feedback at the end of year review so rather than chance that, I’m going to subject you to some good, old fashioned subconscious prattling with no fore thought and barely a glance at the spell checker.

I randomed into this album on my iPod and decided I had to share via embeded YouTube videos. Not all have videos so they have the album cover instead.

There are times when a great thing becomes even greater. And Valve software has done that.

They took a game called Half-Life, made it greater with groundbreaking graphics and then just for fun, created a great little puzzle game called Portal using that technology and some new things. Portal is a short game but loads of fun in the mental department making you solve things with very 3 dimensional thinking. Plus a mad computer system that is running the whole thing.

I was listening to NPR on my local station 88.5FM when there was an interview with a man named Nigel McLoughlin who was remembering growing up in the turmoil and about his writing processes as a poet. While the interview was very striking and you can listen to it here if you like, one of the things he said struck me as very important to remember and apply in my own way.

’till then as now the rites of spring are followed
and all the pretty ones dance like poems written in scents and colors.
the drawing close of life in verdant chances, taking cold dark remains
and burying them beneath the skirts of winters bed
so that for a while we might dream of better things
and wake to better tomorrows

Just happened across this blog and intend to start reading it a lot:

Music For Kids Who Can’t Read Good

Good reading, interesting topics and loads of UK slang!

In my quest to love my Mac even more than I already do, I set about finding ways to play the Holy Grail of Windows only games, Half Life 2, on my little MacBook. This proved to be not so easy.

It turns out that there are a ton of websites that talk about how you can’t or it’s difficult or how you should “jst by a frkng PC U NOOB, Macs suxors games!!!”. Based on that response alone, I decided that I would have to just try and do it myself. There was no comprehensive guide to the process.
